X promotes native, in-platform content and algorithmically deprioritizes tweets that send people away from the site. A 2026 Nieman Lab analysis found the New York Times, with 53 million followers, saw a median of 383 engagements per tweet when it linked out, while accounts posting organic no-link content saw median engagements of over 8,000. The practical move is to put the actual takeaway in the tweet with an image or a short thread, and keep the URL out of the post itself. Postpone treats the two kinds of tweet separately for exactly this reason. Up to 100% of your limit can go to organic tweets — text, images, video, GIFs and polls with no outbound URL — and no more than 50% can go to tweets containing a link to an external site. X charges 20x more for API access that can post links, which is where the split comes from. Drafts and failed submissions don't count at all. Threads can hold as many tweets as you want and every tweet in one goes out at the same scheduled time rather than trickling. Thread numbering adds the 1/5, 2/5 counters for you, and the AI thread writer can draft the whole thing from a topic or from a link you paste. Each tweet takes exactly one kind of attachment: nothing, 1-4 images, one GIF, or one video, so a GIF and a photo have to be two tweets, or two posts in a thread. A tweet with media does not need any text. Images are jpeg, png, webp or heic up to 5 MB, and anything larger is downscaled automatically rather than rejected. GIFs go to 15 MB. Video is mp4 or mov up to 512 MB and 10 minutes, rising to 5 GB and 2 hours on a verified account. Polls are a post type of their own: 2 to 4 choices, running for up to 7 days. Pick the Community on the post itself — either from the ones you have posted to recently or by pasting its URL — and the tweet goes there instead of to your timeline at the scheduled time. The one requirement is X's own: you have to already be a member of the Community for the post to land, so join before you queue anything up. ### **Can Postpone retweet my best tweets again later?** That is what Auto-Repost does. Set a delay in hours or days when you schedule the tweet and Postpone retweets it when the timer runs out, with an optional daily repeat for up to 14 more days so the post keeps surfacing for people in other time zones. If you have a second X account connected, the retweet can come from that one instead. Auto-Remove is the mirror image: delete the tweet after a set time unless it clears a minimum number of likes, which leaves the ones that worked and clears out the ones that did not.
