Instagram only lets third-party tools publish from those two, so a personal account has to be converted before you can connect it. Converting is free, takes a minute in the Instagram app, and you can switch back whenever you like. Which of the two you pick matters for one thing: scheduling Stories is Business-only, because Instagram does not expose Story publishing to Creator accounts. Linking a Facebook Page is no longer required to publish at all, but it is what unlocks the deeper analytics and the music picker for Reels.
