# Evergreen Content

Evergreen content is any post or article that stays useful and relevant months or years after you publish it.

Trending content gets you attention today. Evergreen content gets you attention every day after that.

The difference is shelf life. A post reacting to yesterday's news is stale by tomorrow. A post explaining how to grow your first 1,000 followers on LinkedIn is just as useful in six months as it is now. That's evergreen content — material built to last.

## What Makes Content Evergreen

Evergreen content answers questions people will always have. "How to write better captions." "What to post on Reddit without getting banned." "Five ways to repurpose a blog post." These topics don't expire because the underlying need doesn't expire.

What's not evergreen: news commentary, trend reactions, memes tied to a specific moment, platform feature announcements, event recaps. These have value, but it's temporary.

The best content strategies blend both. Trending posts bring spikes of new audience. Evergreen content converts that attention into lasting value.

## Why Evergreen Content Compounds

Here's the math that makes it powerful. A trending post might get 10,000 impressions on day one and 200 on day two. An evergreen post might get 500 impressions on day one — but 500 every week for the next year. That's 26,000 impressions from a single post.

Pinterest and YouTube reward this dynamic most obviously. A well-optimized Pinterest pin or YouTube tutorial can drive traffic for years. But it works everywhere. Reddit posts resurface through search. LinkedIn articles get recycled. Even Instagram carousels get saved and shared long after posting.

## Creating Evergreen Content

Start with questions your audience asks repeatedly. Check your DMs, comments, and customer support tickets. Those recurring questions are your best evergreen topics.

Write for someone discovering your content with zero context. Don't reference "last week's update" or "the current situation." Use specific, timeless examples.

Then put your evergreen library to work. Reshare top performers quarterly. Update stats and screenshots annually. Pin your best evergreen posts to your profile. One great piece of evergreen content can replace dozens of disposable posts.

**Example**

A Twitter thread explaining 'how to write a cold email' written two years ago still gets shared weekly. Meanwhile, your post about a trending meme from Tuesday is already forgotten. The thread keeps driving profile visits without any additional effort.

## **Why It Matters**

Evergreen content compounds over time. While trending posts spike and die within hours, evergreen pieces keep generating traffic, followers, and engagement for months. Building a library of evergreen content means your past work actively contributes to future growth.
