Substack and Postpone

# Auto-Share New Substack Issues to Social Media with Postpone

Postpone watches your Substack publication and turns every new issue into scheduled posts on X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads and more. It is built for writers and newsletter-led teams who want every issue promoted without pasting the link into six apps.

## **Auto-Share Substack Issues**

### Share Every New Issue Without Copying a Link

Paste your Substack publication's address and every issue you send shows up in Postpone on its own, with its title, link and preview image ready to post. No login, no key, nothing to install. Post one yourself, or hand the whole job to an [**automation**](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-automation) and let each issue promote itself.

## **Social Post Templates for Substack**

### Write the Post Once and Let Every Issue Fill It In

Write the announcement once, the way you would write it yourself, and every new Substack issue fills it in with its own title, link and summary. Each platform gets its own version, a thread here and a short note there, and a live preview shows what will go out before you save.

## **Substack Social Media Automation**

### Decide How Much Each Issue Posts on Its Own

Choose how much each Substack issue does on its own: the post can wait as a draft for a read-through, go out on a delay you set, or publish as soon as Postpone sees the issue. Pause the automation whenever you like, and the run history shows every post that did not go out, and why.

## Everything Postpone Does With a New Issue

Six things Postpone can do with a new issue, all from the feed it already reads.

- ### One Issue, a Post for Every Platform

A single automation holds several actions, each aimed at one account with its own template. The same issue can read as a hook on X, a summary on LinkedIn and a one-liner on Threads, all from the same run.
- ### Threads, Not Only Links

On X, Bluesky, Threads and Mastodon a template can be a thread. Open with the issue's title, pull its summary into the middle and end on the link, so the post says something before it asks for a click.
- ### Timing That Suits Each Platform

Give each action its own delay. Publish to Bluesky as the issue sends, wait until the next morning for LinkedIn and hold X for the afternoon, all from one issue and one automation.
- ### Review Before Anything Goes Out

Set an action to draft rather than publish and the post waits in Drafts. Change the wording, add an image, then schedule it yourself. Nothing publishes until you say so.
- ### Let the AI Write the Post From the Link

Paste an issue's link into Postpone's AI writer and it reads the page and drafts a post or a whole thread from it, in the tone you have set for that platform.
- ### See How Each Post Performs on Social

Every post an automation publishes shows up in analytics like any other, so you can compare posts by likes, replies and impressions and see which platform your readers are actually on.

## Seven Platforms From One Substack Feed

An automation schedules posts to these platforms on its own.

- [**LinkedIn**Profiles and Pages](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/linkedin-scheduler)
- [**Bluesky**Posts and threads](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/bluesky-post-scheduler)
- [**Threads**Posts and threads](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/threads-scheduler)
- [**Mastodon**Posts and threads](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/mastodon-post-scheduler)
- [**Facebook**Pages](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/facebook-post-scheduler)
- [**Reddit**Posts to a subreddit](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/reddit-post-scheduler)

Need Instagram, TikTok or YouTube Shorts as well? The [**Zapier integration**](https://www.postpone.app/integrations/zapier) schedules to those from any trigger Zapier supports, and the [**Postpone API**](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-api) reaches all twelve platforms.

## Connect Substack to Postpone in Three Steps

Set it up once and every issue you send promotes itself.

1. 1 ### Add your publication as a feed

Point Postpone at your Substack publication and it watches for new issues, with no password to hand over and nothing to install.
2. 2 ### Build the automation

Write one template per platform from the issue's title, link and summary, then choose whether each post drafts, schedules itself or publishes right away.
3. 3 ### Send your next issue

Postpone spots the new issue and fills your template, so the posts land as drafts, on your calendar or live without a separate promotion pass.

Questions About Postpone and Substack

How Postpone reads a publication, what it does with each issue, and where the posts land.

### **Does Postpone post my Substack issues to social media automatically?**

Yes, Postpone posts each new Substack issue automatically once you connect the publication as a feed and build an automation on it. You write the template once using the issue's title, its link and its summary, and every send after that reaches your social accounts without you copying a URL across.

Each action in the automation can publish immediately, schedule for later or leave a draft for you, so how automatic it is stays your call.

[**How automations work **](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-automation)

### **Do I need to give Postpone access to my Substack account?**

No, Postpone never signs in to Substack. It reads the public feed your publication already produces, so there is no password, no API key and nothing to authorize. Removing the feed is all it takes to stop.

[**Every supported feed source **](https://help.postpone.app/content/feeds/supported-feed-sources)

### **How long after I publish an issue does the post go out?**

Postpone checks your Substack feed on a schedule rather than the instant you hit send, so there is a short delay before the automation runs. Feeds are polled, not pushed.

After that it depends on the action. A submitted post publishes as soon as the run starts, and a scheduled post waits for the delay you set, counted from that moment, so tomorrow at 9am means the morning after the issue arrives.

[**The three action types **](https://help.postpone.app/scheduling/automation/actions)

### **Can I edit the post before it goes out?**

Yes, set the action to draft a post instead of scheduling or submitting it and Postpone leaves the post in your Drafts. Open it, change the wording, add media or a first comment, then schedule it yourself.

A scheduled post can also be edited on the calendar right up until it publishes, so a template that got the wording slightly wrong is fixed on the post rather than lost.

[**The social media scheduler **](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-scheduler)

### **Can one Substack issue become a thread rather than a single post?**

Yes, an automation action targets one account and carries its own template, and on X that template can be a thread. One issue can therefore draft as a thread on X, schedule as a longer post on LinkedIn and publish to Bluesky in the same run, each written the way that platform reads best.

[**The X post scheduler **](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/twitter-post-scheduler)

### **Which platforms can a Substack automation post to?**

Seven: X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, Facebook and Reddit. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest and Tumblr are not available to automations. The Zapier integration reaches the first three of those and the Postpone API reaches all twelve.
