RSS and Postpone

# Auto-Post RSS Feed Items to Social Media with Postpone

Postpone watches any RSS or Atom feed and turns each new item into scheduled posts on X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads and more. If it publishes a feed, a blog, a changelog, a podcast or a news site, it can fill your social calendar on its own.

## **Auto-Share RSS Feed Items**

### Turn Any Feed Into a Posting Queue

Paste the address of any RSS feed and every item shows up in Postpone on its own, with its title, link and preview image ready to post. Most sites already publish one, and there is nothing to install and no account to connect. Post one yourself, or hand the whole job to an [**automation**](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-automation) and let each item promote itself.

## **Social Post Templates for RSS**

### Write the Post Once and Let Every Item Fill It In

Write the announcement once, the way you would write it yourself, and every new item in the feed fills it in with its own title, link and summary. Each platform gets its own version, a thread here and a short note there, and a live preview shows what will go out before you save.

## **RSS Social Media Automation**

### Decide How Much Each Item Posts on Its Own

Choose how much each feed item does on its own: the post can wait as a draft for a read-through, go out on a delay you set, or publish as soon as Postpone sees the item. Pause the automation whenever you like, and the run history shows every post that did not go out, and why.

## Everything Postpone Does With a New Feed Item

Six things Postpone can do with a new item, all from the feed it already reads.

- ### One Item, a Post for Every Platform

A single automation holds several actions, each aimed at one account with its own template. The same post can read as a hook on X, a summary on LinkedIn and a one-liner on Threads, all from the same run.
- ### More Than Blogs

Anything with a feed works: a changelog, a release page, a podcast, a job board, a news site or a newsletter. If the source is something you already publish, there is nothing new to maintain.
- ### Timing That Suits Each Platform

Give each action its own delay. Publish to Bluesky as the item lands, wait until the next morning for LinkedIn and hold X for the afternoon, all from one item and one automation.
- ### Review Before Anything Goes Out

Set an action to draft rather than publish and the post waits in Drafts. Change the wording, add an image, then schedule it yourself. Nothing publishes until you say so.
- ### Let the AI Write the Post From the Link

Paste an item's link into Postpone's AI writer and it reads the page and drafts a post or a whole thread from it, in the tone you have set for that platform.
- ### See How Each Post Performs on Social

Every post an automation publishes shows up in analytics like any other, so you can compare posts by likes, replies and impressions and see which platform your readers are actually on.

## Seven Platforms From One RSS Feed

An automation schedules posts to these platforms on its own.

- [**X**Posts and threads](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/twitter-post-scheduler)
- [**LinkedIn**Profiles and Pages](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/linkedin-scheduler)
- [**Bluesky**Posts and threads](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/bluesky-post-scheduler)
- [**Threads**Posts and threads](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/threads-scheduler)
- [**Mastodon**Posts and threads](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/mastodon-post-scheduler)
- [**Facebook**Pages](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/facebook-post-scheduler)
- [**Reddit**Posts to a subreddit](https://www.postpone.app/platforms/reddit-post-scheduler)

Need Instagram, TikTok or YouTube Shorts as well? The [**Zapier integration**](https://www.postpone.app/integrations/zapier) schedules to those from any trigger Zapier supports, and the [**Postpone API**](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-api) reaches all twelve platforms.

## Connect an RSS Feed to Postpone in Three Steps

Set it up once and everything you publish promotes itself.

1. 1 ### Add your feed to Postpone

Point Postpone at the feed your site already publishes and it watches for new items, with nothing to install and no account to connect.
2. 2 ### Build the automation

Write one template per platform from the item's title, link and summary, then choose whether each post drafts, schedules itself or publishes right away.
3. 3 ### Publish as usual

Postpone spots each new item and fills your template, so the posts land as drafts, on your calendar or live without a separate promotion pass.

Questions About Postpone and RSS

How Postpone reads a feed, what it does with each item, and where the posts land.

### **How does Postpone turn an RSS feed into social posts?**

Postpone watches the feed and an automation does the writing. Add the feed address under Feeds, then build an automation that fires on each new item and fills a template you wrote once, using the item's title, link, summary, full content or author.

The result either drafts for your review or schedules itself, so a blog you already publish becomes a posting queue with nothing extra to maintain.

[**How automations work **](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-automation)

### **Does Postpone support Atom feeds as well as RSS?**

Yes, Postpone reads Atom alongside RSS, and any address that returns either one works as a feed source. That covers far more than blogs in practice: changelogs, release pages, job boards and podcast feeds all publish one, so the trigger is usually something you already have rather than something new to set up.

[**Every supported feed source **](https://help.postpone.app/content/feeds/supported-feed-sources)

### **Do I need to give Postpone access to my site?**

No, Postpone reads the public feed your site already publishes, so there is no login, no API key and no plugin to install. Adding the feed address is the whole setup, and deleting the feed is the whole teardown.

[**Every supported feed source **](https://help.postpone.app/content/feeds/supported-feed-sources)

### **How long after I publish does the post go out?**

Postpone checks a feed on a schedule rather than the instant you publish, so there is a short delay before the automation runs. Feeds are polled, not pushed.

After that it depends on the action. A submitted post publishes as soon as the run starts, and a scheduled post waits for the delay you set, counted from that moment, so tomorrow at 9am means the morning after the item arrives.

[**The three action types **](https://help.postpone.app/scheduling/automation/actions)

### **Why has my RSS feed not triggered anything?**

Usually one of four things, and none of them is the template. Feeds are polled rather than pushed, so detection lags publication. The feed has to be Active, since a paused or erroring one fires nothing. The automation itself has to be enabled.

And feeds only trigger on new items, so whatever was already in the feed when you created the automation will never produce a run.

### **Which platforms can an RSS feed post to?**

Seven: X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, Facebook and Reddit. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest and Tumblr are not available to automations. The Zapier integration reaches the first three of those and the Postpone API reaches all twelve.
