Cursor and Postpone

# Schedule Social Posts from Cursor with Postpone

Connect Postpone to Cursor and the release announcement gets written where the release was. Point the agent at the changelog, the merged pull request or the README and ask for the posts, and it schedules them against your real accounts without you opening a social app.

**Cursor**

Write the release announcement from CHANGELOG.md and schedule it for tomorrow morning

**Scheduled in Postpone**

Three posts are scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 AM in your timezone, written from the unreleased section of the changelog:

- X, a three post thread, one feature per post
- LinkedIn, the long version with the migration note
- Bluesky, the one line version with the docs link

None of them has published yet. Say the word and I will hold them as drafts so the team can read them first.

### Connected From the Settings You Already Have Open

Add Postpone to Cursor once and the agent that just shipped the code can announce it too. Ask in the chat panel and the posts are written, scheduled and on your calendar without leaving the editor, so the [**developer workflow**](https://www.postpone.app/use-cases/developers) stays in one place. It only ever reaches the accounts you have connected in Postpone.

Post the CSV export from the pull request I just merged to Bluesky on Friday morning

**Scheduled in Postpone**

Scheduled for Friday at 9:00 AM on Bluesky, written from the pull request description:

- "Export any report as CSV, straight from the share menu. No more copying tables out of screenshots."

Your Postpone library has a screenshot named export-dialog.png, labelled "product", that has never gone out. Want it attached?

### The Announcement Written Where the Code Was

The agent already has the diff, the changelog and the README in context, so the announcement is written where the code was. Ask for the posts and Cursor writes one for each platform in its own shape and schedules them at the times you name, or holds them as drafts until you have read them.

**Cursor**

How did last month's release posts do?

**Checked with Postpone**

Last month you announced two releases across three accounts, and the numbers split cleanly:

- X, the thread on the new export, 14,200 impressions and 118 reposts
- LinkedIn, the same release in long form, 6,900 impressions and 84 reactions
- Bluesky, both one liners together, 2,300 likes and 41 reposts

The thread that led with the problem it fixed did twice the work of the one that led with the version number. Want the next release written that way?

## **Social Analytics in Cursor**

### Know What Worked Without Leaving the Terminal

Cursor can read what you published, how each post performed and how every account's following has moved, so "did anyone read the release notes" is a question you ask in the chat panel rather than a tab you open. Find the announcements that worked and write the next one in their shape without leaving the editor.

## Handle Your Social Posts Without Leaving Cursor

Ask the agent in plain words and it schedules, updates and reports on posts across the accounts you have connected to Postpone.

- ### Announce a Release From the Editor

When a release ships, ask the agent for the announcement. It writes a post for each platform and schedules them, or saves them as drafts to check before they go out.
- ### Reschedule When a Launch Slips

Ask what is scheduled, then move, reword or remove a post in the same chat. When a launch date changes, the posts change with it.
- ### Write Posts From Your Docs

Give the agent a link to a release page or the docs you just shipped. It reads the page and writes posts from what it actually says.
- ### Find the Right Screenshot

Search your Content Library by name, type or label, or ask only for files you have never posted, and the agent attaches the one you want.
- ### See Which Posts Got Attention

Ask how your recent announcements did and the agent pulls the engagement for each post, so you know which ones people actually noticed.
- ### Track Your Follower Growth

Get follower counts over time for every account you have connected, so you can see whether posting about your work is growing an audience.

## Post to Eleven Platforms From Cursor

The MCP server schedules to eleven platforms from the same connected accounts, and reads the calendar and the numbers for every one of them.

## Connect Postpone to Cursor in Three Steps

Connect Cursor once and it can schedule, move and report on your posts.

1. 1 ### Create an API key

Your key comes from Postpone's own API settings. Create one and copy it somewhere safe, because it is only shown once.
2. 2 ### Add the Postpone server

Paste the configuration above into Cursor with your key in place of API\_KEY, and the Postpone tools are available to the agent from then on.
3. 3 ### Ask for something

"What goes out this week?" is a good first question: it only reads, so it proves the connection before anything is written. Then ask for a post.

Questions About Postpone and Cursor

### **How do I use Postpone from Cursor?**

You add Postpone's MCP server at https://api.postpone.app/mcp to Cursor under Tools & MCP, with a Postpone API key in the Authorization header or an OAuth sign-in, and scheduling becomes something you can do from the editor. For a developer publishing changelogs, release notes or a build in public thread, that removes the context switch that usually stops the post being written at all.

[**Postpone for developers **](https://www.postpone.app/use-cases/developers)

### **Should I use MCP or the GraphQL API from my editor?**

MCP is for asking in natural language while you work; the GraphQL API is for code you write once and run on a schedule. A release announcement you decide on in the moment suits MCP. A pipeline step that posts on every tagged build suits the API, which also reaches the whole product rather than what MCP exposes.

[**The Postpone API **](https://www.postpone.app/features/social-media-api)

### **Does Cursor need an API key for Postpone?**

Not necessarily: the hosted Postpone connection also signs in with OAuth and is scoped to what you approve. A personal API key is the alternative for a client you control, sent as a bearer token in the configuration, and it is worth knowing that a key bypasses scope checks entirely and can read and write everything. Give it an expiry when you create it.

[**Postpone for AI agents **](https://www.postpone.app/use-cases/agents)

### **What can Cursor do with my Postpone account?**

Cursor can schedule posts and drafts to any connected platform, read and change your calendar, search your content library including media you have never used, report on what published and how it performed, and track follower growth per account. It cannot connect a social account, reply to comments or messages, or delete a post that has already gone out.

[**What an agent can do **](https://www.postpone.app/use-cases/agents)

### **Will Cursor post to my accounts without asking me?**

Anything that creates or deletes a post comes with an instruction telling Cursor to show you the exact content first, and Cursor's own agent asks before running a tool unless you have turned that off. That is a convention rather than a lock, so ask for drafts when you want a second pair of eyes: a draft sits in Postpone until someone moves it to the calendar.

[**Read the MCP docs **](https://developers.postpone.app/getting-started/ai-mcp)

### **Does connecting Cursor to Postpone cost extra?**

No, MCP access costs nothing on top of your plan. It comes with every paid plan and the free trial of any of them, though not the free plan, and needs a confirmed email address.
